Why We Choose Natural Materials

The materials in a room do quiet work. They shape how a space feels underfoot and in the hand, how it catches the light, and how it ages over the years you live with it. At Green Nest Co, we curate around natural materials for a simple reason: they feel honest, and they last.

What we use

We choose natural, renewable materials wherever we can — natural woods like pine, reclaimed timber and ethically sourced bamboo; natural clays and stoneware; and natural fibres including jute, seagrass, hemp and linen. For scent, plant-based waxes and essential oils, never synthetic fragrance.

Recycled natural fibres matter to us too. Recycled cotton and reclaimed fibres give a second life to materials that already exist, keeping them out of landfill and lowering the impact of everything we bring into the home.

What we never use

Just as important is where we draw the line. We don't curate GNc pieces made from recycled plastic textiles, synthetic fibres marketed as "eco", or mass-produced, low-quality items designed to be replaced within a season. No harsh chemicals, and no fast-homeware trends.

It's a stricter standard than most, and it means our collection grows slowly. We think that's exactly right.

Why it's worth it

Natural materials aren't perfect — and that's the point. A hand-thrown bowl carries the mark of the hand that made it. Linen softens and creases. Wood deepens in colour. These aren't flaws to hide; they're the reason a natural home feels alive rather than assembled.

Choosing them isn't about fashion. It's about living with things that were made to be lived with.
